I would like to extend a huge thank you to the Cowichan Valley Employers that participated in the Youth Employment Mentorship Program (YEMP) over the past year.
Your participation has been vital to the success of the program. And to that COS is grateful.
Some of the skills that employers appreciated in the youth were:
- Focused, learns quickly, great memory, willingness to try and task with limited direction, detail oriented
- Hardworking, polite, energetic and punctual!
- He is very positive and happy person even during high stress he manages to stay calm and on task
- Always on time, showed up. Picked up the job very quickly
- Amazing attention to detail, great work ethic, positive attitude
- Enthusiastic, good with clients, strong chainsaw skills
- Great work ethic; always on time; never complained ; always willing to help out
Over 90% of the employers who participated would do so again! We have some employers that hired more than one youth – A special thanks to Tim Hortons who hired 4 of our YEMP participants!
